SomnuMatrix lets you write or speak a dream and walk through it, and, if you choose, take part in Somnucor, a city shared with other dreamers. This page says what we keep, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. The rules for using it are in the terms of use.
What stays on your device
Your dreams, their places and your settings are kept in your own browser. Nothing you dream is sent anywhere unless you ask for one of the things below. Clearing your browser's site data, or "Erase this device" in Settings, removes them from that device.
What we keep if you make an account
- Your email address and a password, held by our sign-in provider. We never see your password.
- Your date of birth, asked once, so we can keep under-13s out of the shared city and keep real-money gold and the casino to those 18 and over. Other players never see it. If you give a date under 13, we keep only the fact that the account is under 13, not the date.
- Your purchase: the date, amount and the email used at checkout, so we can give you access and keep the records the law requires.
- A copy of your dreams, only if you choose to keep them to your account.
- Dreams you publish through a door in the Hall of Doors. These are public: anyone can walk into them until you take them down.
- Your part in Somnucor: the name and look you choose, where you are in the city, your job, money, property, what you say in the city's chat and the phone messages you send. Other dreamers see your name, look, position and chat; a phone message is seen by the one you send it to.
- Reports: if someone reports a chat line or a phone message, the line and who reported it are kept for the moderators (the keeper, officers and players the keeper names), who read what was reported in order to act on it.
Waiting list
If you join the waiting list we keep your email address only to tell you when SomnuMatrix opens. "Leave the list" on the front page removes it.
Who else handles your data
- Supabase stores accounts and the city.
- Stripe takes payment. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us.
- Groq runs the AI that builds the parts of a dream the game doesn't already know. When the AI is used, the text of that dream is sent to Groq to be read. Words the game doesn't know may also be looked up on Wikipedia and Wiktionary. Don't put anything in a dream you wouldn't want processed this way; the game also builds dreams from its own catalogue without the AI.
- GitHub Pages serves the website, and like any web host it sees the address your request comes from.
We don't sell your data and we don't show advertising.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings, then Your account, then "Delete my account", and type DELETE to confirm. At once your name becomes "Former dreamer", and your place in the city, your chat lines, your friends and blocks, your saved vault copy, your published dreams and the extra details the sign-in provider kept with your account (such as your date of birth) are removed. The keeper then deletes the account itself, with your email address, for good; we aim to do this within 30 days. Purchase records are kept without your account attached, because tax law requires it.
Children
SomnuMatrix accounts are for people aged 13 and over, and we don't knowingly keep data about children under 13. The game asks for a date of birth before making an account and refuses one under 13; an account that gives a date under 13 later is kept out of the shared city and its chat. The dream journal needs no account and keeps everything on your own device. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, write to us and we'll remove it.
Buying or selling gold for real money, and the casino, are only for players 18 and over.
